The Coromandel offers a large selection of spectacular walks and hikes that allow you to enjoy the lush forests, awesome vistas and unique flora and fauna in the region.
The Pinnacles
Description: This is one of the most beautiful hikes in the Coromandel Range. Plan to hike a full day to enjoy the magnificient vistas and our native bush.
Time from Te Puru: 45 min by car to the start of the trail
Tip: Take food and drinking water. Overnight accommodation is available in the Pinnacles Hut.
Kauaeranga Valley
Description: There are many hiking trails to choose from in this beautiful valley, only a 13km drive from Thames. Nearby are swimming holes and historic relics from kauri logging days.
Time from Te Puru : 30 min by car
Waiomu Kauri Grove
Description: A 2hr 30min return trip, walking on an easy track with several stream crossings that will take you to a Kauri tree grove.
Time from Te Puru : 10 min by car
Tip: Waterproof shoes are advised.
Karangahape Gorge
Description: Several different walks in the area allow you to discover relics from the gold mining era, including railways and batteries. The Windows walk is recommended.

Coromandel Coast
Description: Hiking along the Coromandel Coast is ideal for discovering the coastal fauna, flora and migrating birds of the Peninsula.
